A Mathematics Manifesto

The document is a discussion of the principles and aspirations behind the design of a new curriculum for mathematics from age 5 to age 18. The document explores the implications for schools, teachers and pupils, an approach to assessment, and the mechanisms for renewing the curriculum.
In the Manifesto, I use an elementary, middle and high school structure. There is no universal approach to describing the phases of education, but I find that this structure better represents the ontogenic psychological phases that human beings pass through. As an extension of this, I also use grades to describe school years.
I hope that the Manifesto is a prompt for a debate and I would welcome your thoughts and ideas on what is proposed. I will continue to develop the document and would be pleased to work with others if there is an interest to do so.
